are we really that helpless? pffffffttt

sometimes i wonder, are we really that helpless? individually are we really that useless?
no i'm not talking about how we can achieve more as a collective, i mean are we really worth that little as an individual?
should we live our lives individually and at the end of day, do nothing for society and for others?
why should we always leave problems to the government or to more knowledgeable people? can't we seek knowledge given the vast world wide web. Do we live this life of ours and do nothing more than benefit ourselves only?

why when i try to seek advice on solutions for the current problems of today's world from friends, all i get is dejection and in turn feel helpless. are there so many carefree people in Singapore that we leave all problems to the government? has Singapore bred a culture where we believe the government will always solve all our problems and we're not a part of this country?
this is our country and we have a part to play in ensuring the best for future generations and ensure they get to live a life as good as ours at the very least.
undoubtedly the government has most funds and probably the most power in the country, but they're often bounded by red tape and bureaucracy. does the government have every single aspect covered?
i honestly doubt that current science in Singapore is going to solve all our problems, most of the time, knowledge or technology is shared amongst nations. - by share i mean they're willing to sell the technology to you.
a lot of the solutions that we have today, are often a result of careful selection and outsourcing.

though i doubt i have the capability to solve every single problem, i feel i have the ability and capability to at least contribute to this society meaningfully and solve some problems.
i agree its pointless to think of all the problems and then think of solutions. at the end of the day, all im going to feel is helplessness since the problems are to monumental for me.
certain problems, i feel im able to contribute.

nope, im not saying im going to contribute alone. but with the collective - my friends and people around me.
honestly, it seriously is saddening to have friends who tell you to not bother with such problems since we have such a competent government who solves most of our problems.
but i don't blame them, i probably attribute this carefree attitude as a result of our nanny state where we have a lot of choices chosen for us.
it would feel better if more people were engage in finding solutions for the greater good. i'm not saying there are no people doing that. i mean i don't know enough people doing that personally...

i guess most people wonder "so what if i find a solution for the problem of todays world. what can my solution do? "
i guess there aren't many avenues provided for us to contribute to and as a result we just leave it to the government.

thankfully for me, right now, i probably have a chance at contributing because of the competition im taking part in. probably without this competition most would wonder what to do with their solutions.
i guess, there's always the private sector in the economy. if you believe you idea works and with a group of resourceful and knowledgeable people, your solution will becomes the world's solution.
probably, we'd all be innovators by then...
wouldn't that be great? :)
