i've collected my results after going through hell. the uncertainty of your results is really unbearable and i'm glad i came out strong and alive. before the release of the results on 4th March, Friday, 2.30pm the school usually calls top scorers for photo taking.
unfortunately i wasn't one of the lucky few and let not forget i was from one of the top classes, hence my group of friends were calling me and telling me they received the call from school.
the stress and anxiety i was feeling was crazy...
anyways, glad that my friends achieved great results. they usually scored better than me, so its no wonder they did better. otherwise it would be a little screwed up. their results are a testament of how hard work pays off. actually, any top scorers in my school (SRJC) is actually a result of sheer hardwork.
anyways, for those who really want to know how i fared. my results are as follows:
H1 GP - C
H1 PW - A
H1 ECONS - A
H2 MATHS - A
H2 CHEM - A
H2 PHY - B
H3 PHY - DIST
CLB - PASS
H1 PW - A
H1 ECONS - A
H2 MATHS - A
H2 CHEM - A
H2 PHY - B
H3 PHY - DIST
CLB - PASS
i know it kinda sucks. i mean how can my GP get a C? i honestly expected a B. a C was on my mind since i kinda screwed up my essay. i took too long choosing a question, couldn't really decide on which one to do at first. as such, i didn't have time to finish. i had to either write my rebuttal or conclude. obviously i decided to conclude, hence affecting my grades.
my H2 physics is a real let down, i never expected a B for my physics at all. i mean seriously, physics was my best subject for Prelims and i was expecting an A. arghhh.
well, to my huge huge huge surprise, i managed to obtain a distinction for my H3 physics. i recall, before collecting the results, i met with my group of friends and 2 teachers for lunch. being the anxious person as i am, i kept on pestering them, asking if i passed my H3. knowing teachers they both went ' i don't know' and i was expecting a pass or merit only... recalling the exam venue which had 1/3 students from Hwa Chong and many top schools. actually there are like almost no schools which are from the bottom tier like mine. as such, i was fearful of a fail and asked if they were showing the H3 results and asked if they could hide the H3 results.
imagine the sigh of " H3 physics - 0% pass" i would have been so embarrassed and ran to the toilet hiding my head there... never did i expect a Distinction and still be able to be the only one to obtain it.
the other 2 people who took H3, in my opinion, had a higher chance of getting a Distinction.
and i recall since the first day of school, when i appealed to take 4H2 which i was so blatantly rejected despite them asking me to "appeal". they didn't even want to listen to me, all the wanted was to shut me up. and i recalled telling them i wanted to take H3 and the teacher gave me a doubtful "if you do well in promos we'll see".
in physics class, i told my teacher of my H3 ambitions and he told the class, H3 isnt easy and that he only got a Merit for it and he came from VJC. and he was quite hesitant to support my H3 conquest...
my Civic Teacher highly discouraged me from taking H3 since i would be competing with top schools and it would be better if i focus on my core subjects.
despite the setbacks i face and not having much help since i didn't have seniors who took H3 nor were the teachers very familiar with the syllabus, i had to rely on Google for most of my help.
as saddening as it is that i got a C for my GP, my H3 phy has alleviated the sadness. i've not let myself down that much. still in shock from my Distinction...
to those who did well. Congratulations on your results, im sure your hard work has paid off!
to those who didn't achieve their desired results, i'm sure you'll find other opportunities to shine. A' levels isn't the end of the road, its just one of the roads. find your path and you'll be fine. my heart goes out to those who needs it. <3
